Surrounded by his family, Jeremy Wilson Telling, son of David and Christy Telling, husband of Renee', father to Olivia and Benjamin, brother of Michael and Jessica, went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2012.
Jeremy was born December 18, 1977, in Redwood City, California. When he was 4 years old, his family moved to Carson City, Nevada, where he resided until moving to nearby Reno. Jeremy attended Carson High School and Western Nevada College. Jeremy received a degree in Nursing from WNC and rapidly developed skills as an ICU nurse. Jeremy worked at Renown Hospital until moving to Portland Oregon where he was employed by Oregon Health and Science University Hospital.
While in Portland, Jeremy discovered a swelling in his leg that turned out to be a rare type of cancer called an osteosarcoma. After chemo, surgery, and radiation therapy, it was hoped that the cancer was under control, but in 2011, tumors appeared in his lungs, and later in his brain and abdomen. After numerous rounds of chemo and radiation, his body had weakened to the point that doctors said that they was nothing they could do medically. Despite the prayers of thousands of people, God did not answer those prayers as we all had asked. Jeremy entered his eternal home after this two year battle.
We are grateful that Jeremy is now at peace, dancing with his Savior, who suffered more than we can imagine to give us the hope of new life. As we weep for Jeremy, we also rejoice that this is not the end - there is the sure hope of us seeing him again. I can already imagine him turning around and saying, "Oh, there you are - that was fast!"
A Celebration of Life honoring Jeremy was held at the Old Laurelhurst Church in Portland on Saturday, September First. If you would like to view the Memorial Service video go to:
